Summer, 1839. Still just a starry-eyed child, Jules Verne runs away from home. His youthful adventure leads him to the port of Nantes, where he witnesses a strange scene: A man obtains an astrolabe that is said to possess fabulous powers…
28 years later, the author sets sail for the Americas to find his inspiration. On board, he thinks he recognizes the woman he once adored, whom he had believed to be dead… But who is the mysterious scholar named Orpheus, who seems to be holding her prisoner? What is this man plotting, and how might he be connected to what Jules saw as a child? To find out, Jules decides to track Orpheus down. From New York to Niagara Falls, he will have to face a host of different dangers in this "new world" that will inspire his tales of extraordinary voyages.
