    About Tank Girl

In a post-apocalyptic Australia, corruption and survival of the fittest are the pillars of an ultra-violent society where whites, aborigines, and mutant kangaroos survive as best as they can. Among them, Rebecca – nicknamed Tank Girl because she only travels by tank – lives on the fringes of a society she – a young, individualistic girl whose life is a mess – despises. Reminiscent of the sweeping punk culture of the '80s, this underground comic series, launched in 1988 in the fanzine Deadline – a mixture of British comic strips and articles on music and culture – has become a cult favorite.

    About the Authors

Jamie Hewlett is an English graphic novel artist born in 1968, known for having co-founded the music group Gorillaz in 1997, then the pop opera Monkey, Journey to the West (2007) with Damon Albarn, the singer from Blur. His most noteworthy graphic novel is Tank Girl, considered to be one of the major works of underground style and graphic novels.
Alan Martin is the story writer for Tank Girl, which he co-created in 1988 with his friend Jamie Hewlett. After retiring to Scotland with his family to be close to his hippie friends, during which time he worked on theater scripts among other things, he started working on Tank Girl again with a novel in March 2008 – Tank Girl: Armadillo. Once more, he dived into the graphic novel world by writing exclusive episodes of Tank Girl: Visions of Booga, created with the famous artists Ashley Wood and Rufus Dayglo, for the American publisher IDW in 2007, then in 2009, Tank Girl: Carioca, in collaboration with British comic legend Mike McMahon for Titan Books.
